Solar panels are one of the hottest topics in real estate, but how much value will they actually add to your property? Today we’re going to take a closer look at solar power systems.

Right now, there are a lot of solar systems being sold. They can be a fantastic tool for cutting your energy costs, and a lot of my clients have been reaching out asking if they’re worth the investment and if it’s true that they will increase the value of a home.

I’ve recently spoken with a number of different companies about exactly how much value a solar system will add to a Utah home. Unfortunately, what we’re discovering is that a solar system will only add $0 to $2,000 in value to your home. Here in Utah, we don’t have as much sun as some other states, so these systems don’t add nearly as much value as they do elsewhere.

“If you plan on moving in the next decade, I would advise against solar.”

If you’re planning on moving from your home in the next decade, it might not be worth adding a solar system. If you’re going to hold onto the home for a long time, it may be a good financial decision. It all depends on your situation and your goals.

If you have questions for me about solar systems, what other upgrades will bring value to your home, or anything else related to real estate, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
